Our bags are made of unbleached kraft paper. Unlike most feed bags that have a plastic living, our bags have ZERO lining. After all, we go through so much trouble to produce a chemical free feed, why would we allow the packaging to leach chemicals into it?
This means that the bag may naturally absorb some oils from the feed. Your bags may become a bit speckled... just like your eggs! This is normal and truly natural.
Feed as sole ration to chicks from day 1 until about 6-8 weeks of age. Then, transition them to grower feed. An average chick usually eats about 1-3 oz of feed per day, more and more as they grow.
OK, I know they're just little chicks now. But, one day they'll be layers or broilers!
Eggs produced from pasture raised hens on this feed were tested for nutrition. The results were amazing! The eggs had a 4:1 omega 6/3 ratio, lower PUFAs, and lots of vitamins. They offered more nutrition than any other egg tested. Read more and see the test results here.
No nutritional testing was done with broilers on this feed. But, the final chicken had ample meat and was delicious.
We hold the highest standards for our natural chicken feed. Each feed ingredient has a purpose. It's providing necessary nutrition for the chickens, and that transfers to the eggs. And it's not just the ingredient alone. How it's grown and handled matters a lot, too. That's why we're so careful about where we source our ingredients. They're all US grown and chemical-free. Read more about the nitty gritty on each feed ingredient here.

As a home grower, you don't need to grow it all. A community can be part of your self sufficiency and food freedom plan. Miller's Bio Farm's egg farmers use this same exact feed. You can buy Miller's eggs here.
